+ How do I initially fund my investment account?

There are several ways to fund your new investment account at Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. (“Schwab”):

  1. Direct transfer from an external (non-Schwab) account. This is the preferred method for Individual Retirement Account (IRA) rollovers and 401(k) to IRA conversions as it removes the possibility of triggering a tax liability. A direct transfer is also the preferred method for moving securities (e.g. stocks, mutual funds,1 ETFs, etc.) that you prefer to liquidate at Schwab instead of in your external account.

  2. Wire transfer (cash only; fastest method — typically within one business day; no Schwab fees but your external account may charge a wire transfer fee).

  3. Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfer (cash only; usually takes 1-2 business days once the ACH facility is set up; typically no charges).

  4. Drop off check at a Schwab branch office.

Each of these methods involves the direct movement of funds and securities between accounts that you own. AlphaGlider never handles your funds and securities.

We will contact you about the funding process once you have initiated the creation of your Schwab investment account(s). We will assist you with any necessary paperwork and instructions.

+ How do I withdraw funds from my investment account?

While AlphaGlider investment accounts are invested for the long-term, there will obviously be a time when you will want to withdraw funds from your Schwab investment account. When this time comes, please email or call us at least five business days before you anticipate the need to disburse funds from your investment account. This time is needed to calculate the necessary trades needed to generate the requested funds and to recalibrate your asset allocation, and for the three days it takes most trades to settle. Please note that there will be additional time associated with the transfer of your funds to your external account, depending of the method of transfer. You have the choice of three methods to transfer your funds:

  1. Wire transfer (fastest method - typically within one business day; no Schwab fees but your external account may charge a wire transfer fee).

  2. Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfer (usually takes 1-2 business days once the ACH facility is set up; typically no charges).

  3. Mail check to your mailing address of record.

You will have the opportunity to preauthorize AlphaGlider to initiate wire and/or ACH transfers to your external account(s). This preauthorization ensures the fastest, hassle-free disbursement of your funds when the time comes, particularly for ACH transfers.

+ Will AlphaGlider provide me required minimum distribution (RMD) amounts for my individual retirement account (IRA) each year?

Yes. In January we provide RMD amounts to owners of AlphaGlider IRAs who are required to make an RMD in the current year due to their age. The RMD amounts are calculated by your custodian, TD Ameritrade Institutional.

+ Can I set up regular deposits to, or withdrawals from, my investment account?

Yes.
